Annual Enrollment Period

Medicare’s Annual Enrollment Period (AEP) runs from October 15 through December 7.

Each year, Medicare and prescription drug plans are able to make changes to their plans, which can include changes to cost, coverage, and provider networks. This specific enrollment period allows Medicare beneficiaries to review their current Medicare plans and coverage to make necessary changes that will allow them to receive the coverage they need at a cost they can afford.

During this time, Medicare beneficiaries can:

  • Add a Medicare Advantage plan
  • Drop a Medicare Advantage plan and switch to Original Medicare
  • Switch from one Medicare Advantage plan to another
  • Switch from one Medicare Part D plan to another
  • Add a Medicare Part D plan (a late enrollment penalty may apply)

How Do I Know If I Need To Change Plans?

You should always review your Medicare plan to ensure that if your plan is changing, it will still meet your needs. You should also always review the materials you are sent from your plan, such as the Evidence of Coverage (EOC) or Annual Notice of Change (ANOC).

The Medicare agents at Schenck Insurance work for you, not the insurance companies. We will walk you through the review process to ensure that nothing is overlooked and that you receive the coverage you need.
